Our History

Beginning with one location in a single-frame building, today's Citizens National Bank is the one of the largest independently owned and operated community banks in Eastern Kentucky, with 17 locations serving eight counties throughout east, central and north east Kentucky.

We take banking personally. From the earliest branch to today's large community of banks, the Dorton family has been an integral part of our staff and our success. Dennis Dorton is the third generation of Dorton presidents to guide Citizens National Bank in our commitment to preserving the tradition of a caring neighborhood banking center. We are dedicated to providing locally focused financial solutions with personal attention to help our neighbors, families, and businesses continue to prosper today and into the future.

Just in the last 10 years, our merger with The Bank Josephine, acquisition of Heritage Bank of Ashland, and our most recent merger with Kentucky National Bank have cemented our expertise and ability to provide convenient, superior financial products and services.
