PAINTSVILLE, KY (September 13, 2007)…The Kentucky Bankers Association named Dennis Dorton, President and Chief Executive Officer of Citizens National Bank, as incoming Chairman at the 116th Annual KBA Convention held at the Greenbier, White Sulphur Springs, WV.
Dorton is the third in his family to serve as President of the KBA. His grandfather, D.H. Dorton served as the 71st President in 1962 and his father, O.T. Dorton as the 85th President in 1976.
“This truly is a distinct honor to chair the Kentucky Bankers Association for the upcoming term,” said Dorton. “And being the third generation to hold this position is even more fulfilling. My grandfather and father instilled in me a tremendous sense of responsibility as a community banker. That responsibility translates into community service and I am honored to know I am following in their footsteps.”
Dorton graduated from Morehead State University with a BBA degree. He started at Citizens National Bank in June of 1970. He was elected President at Citizens in 1986. Dorton notes that the bank has grown five-fold since then and “such significant growth would not have happened were it not for the commitment and hard work from the finest group of officers, employees and directors in the State of Kentucky.”
